AOM & Safety-Net Antibiotics Prescriptions(SNAP)

• Which Children should get immediate antibiotic treatment?
• Tympanic membrane perforation
• Severe AOM (with any of the following)
• fever of 102.2 or higher
• symmptoms for longer than 48 hours
• severe pain
• 6-23 months of age with bilateral AOM regardless of severity
• Which children qualifies for watchful waiting or SNAPs
• 6-23 months with unilateral non-severe AOM
• 24 months with non-severe AOM regardless of laterality
• Watchful waiting impies having the patient call or come back
• SNAP can be filled if patient worsens or does not improve within 48-72 hours
