AOM & Safety-Net Antibiotics Prescriptions(SNAP)
- Which Children should get immediate antibiotic treatment?
- Tympanic membrane perforation
- Severe AOM (with any of the following)
- fever of 102.2 or higher
- symmptoms for longer than 48 hours
- severe pain
- 6-23 months of age with bilateral AOM regardless of severity
- Which children qualifies for watchful waiting or SNAPs
- 6-23 months with unilateral non-severe AOM
- 24 months with non-severe AOM regardless of laterality
- Watchful waiting impies having the patient call or come back
- SNAP can be filled if patient worsens or does not improve within 48-72 hours
